Student Visa Interview Questions from Bangladesh and How to Answer
The visa interview is short, but every answer counts. Here is what officers actually check and how to prepare honestly.
For some destinations the visa interview is the final test of your application. A US F-1 interview at the embassy in Dhaka is often only a few minutes long. A UK credibility interview may be by video. In both cases the officer is checking one thing above all: that you are a genuine student with a real plan and the funds to follow it.
There is no script that guarantees a visa. The two things that matter most are honesty and consistency with your application and your documents.
Questions about your study plan
The officer wants to see that you chose this course and university for real reasons.
- Why did you choose this course? Link it to your background and goal.
- Why this university and not another? Name a specific module, lab, or feature.
- Why study abroad instead of at home? Give a specific, honest reason.
- What do you know about your course modules? Read the curriculum first.
Questions about money
Your answers here must match your financial documents exactly. A number that does not match is a common reason for refusal.
- How will you fund your studies? State the source and rough amount.
- Who is your sponsor and what do they do? Know their job and income.
- What is the total cost of your study and stay? Give a realistic figure.
- Do you plan to work while studying? Know the legal limit, and make clear your studies are funded without it.
Questions about your intent
For most student visas you should show a genuine plan and, where it applies, an intent to return. Be honest and consistent with your SOP.
How to prepare
- Re read your SOP and financial documents the night before
- Practise out loud, but do not memorise a script
- Keep answers short and clear; many interviews are very fast
- Tell the truth, even about family abroad; a single inconsistency hurts
- Arrive early, dress neatly, and stay calm and polite
